Dear Nana & Grandad,

Hey, it’s Christian. Hope you’re doing well. I’m having a fantastic trip in the UK so far, from being on a plane for the first time in thirteen years to visiting the astonishing city of York. It was simply amazing. If you want to hear more, you’d better read on!  I’ve so much to talk about, I don’t know where to start. I suppose I’ll start on Friday. We arrived after a lot of hustle and bustle in the airport at about quarter to nine. Poor Jayne hated the plane, it was her first time as you know. Got our car no problem and drove to the hotel. The view from the hotel was beautiful. You could see straight out onto the center square which featured a magnificent fountain and the iconic “Bottle of Notes” sculpture.  The food we had while we were there was lovely. One day we went to a buffet restaurant with tons of different cuisines. Another day I had pizza and the chilies on top nearly burnt the throat off me. The next day we went to a different buffet where Jayne covered her face in melted chocolate and Dad a whole “Only for display” raw chicken skewer! Also, breakfast was…. different. They had no pudding OR tomato OR mushrooms… which I guess the Cumberland sausages made up for since it tasted like a mix of the lot.  Saturday was probably my favorite day out of the entire trip. We visited York. I don’t know how to describe it. It was absolutely amazing. From the railway museum to the famous York Minster, it was a treat for hungry eyes. My camera simply could not capture the beauty of it all. The day whizzed past. I couldn’t believe it when Mam said it was time to go.  We also did some other fun things that I can clearly remember. We drove down to Stockton-on-Tees and visited “Splash”, which yes, you’ve probably guessed is a water park. That was quite fun. We then ventured on to “Jump-360”. An indoor trampoline park and inflatable course, where we completely drained ourselves of energy. It was great.  It’s Monday now and the trip is coming to an unwelcome end… We’re leaving the hotel for the airport in about an hour. Made a lot of memories here and it was definitely the best birthday I’ve ever had. So, I guess I should start packing my bags and getting ready to go. Hope my supper is ready when I get there!

See you soon,
