An Austrian Adventure
I am writing this from Hinterglemm, Austria. The flight over was very complicated as I had booked a flight with Ryanair but the flight was cancelled. So I booked a last minute flight with Aerlingus. It was about the same price but I got a lift straight to the Aer Lingus terminal and I got priority boarding. The air crew were very kind friendly people When we got off the plane and got our bags there was a private bus waiting for us out at the front of the airport. It was a three hour bus ride from the airport to the hotel we were staying in. It is called The Adler.
My friends and I are are enjoying The Adler Hotel. When we arrived we were greeted by the very friendly staff. The hotel is beautiful from what we saw when we first walked in. The door man took our bags and brought them to our rooms. The receptionist gave us our beautifully designed room keys with little pictures and murals on them and then we followed the porter to our rooms.
There is a beautiful heated outdoor swimming pool which overlooks the beautiful village of Hinterglemm. There is an indoor pool, steam room and sauna for kids and a separate set for adults. I can’t wait to try it out. There is a very good ski sport rental shop beside the hotel. I am the only one in the group that snowboards, the rest of the group prefer to ski. It is a very short walk to the slopes as the hotel is considered to be a ski in , ski out hotel. Would you believe that after a day of skiing or snowboarding ( if you’re not exhausted) you can go night skiing or snowboarding, You can also go sledding and I am definitely going to try it out tomorrow night. The only downside to night skiing is that you have to walk through the village to other slopes but if you go sledding it is on the slopes beside the hotel, you just get in the gondola and go up to the sledding track.
Tomorrow my friends and I are going on a 47 km ski /snowboard from Hinterglemm to Saalbach and back to Hinterglemm. I know it’s going to be a long day but I will enjoy every bit of it as there will be a soft layer of powder snow on top of freshly groomed snow.
This is an incredible holiday. I would love to come back next year and if I don’t I will still remember this holiday forever. My favorite memory of this holiday so far is the first day skiing and snowboarding with all my friends and then going back to the hotel and making friends with the very kind bar man called Lewis. He was a very kind, funny and positive person. Also you all would love it in Hinterglemm. It has beautiful views and amazing Austrian food.
Mam, I know you don’t like skiing but you can bring the dogs as the hotel allows animals in the hotel and bring them on walks around the skiing village of Hinterglemm
See you all soon
Alex ( Your favorite child )
