Dear Mum and Dad,

Bonjour de sunny France!

Hope you both are keeping well. I am having a great time out here. The weather is fab. It’s no comparison to at home. It is close to 30 degrees here. The food is delightful. One whiff of the smell of a baguette would bring tears to your eyes. I’ve made myself feel at home since Sunday and I’ve met up with all my friends from last year. The journey from Dublin to Nantes wasn’t too bad. I was sitting beside a school group who never stopped talking. I couldn’t sleep at all on the plane. The landing was very gentle, which I think you would have liked. Granny was there to greet me at Nantes Airport. Yesterday, I went to the PassVac camp for the first time. I got the bus from the Salle Polyvalente or the Community Centre in Guiscriff. Immediately when I walked on the bus, I met a new friend called Arwen. She has long, lush, blond hair. She’s also the same age as me. She was really eager to know all about me. She told me that she loves Irish trad music too. As you already know, the first activity for the week was like zip-it in lough key. The funniest thing happened to me. You actually won’t believe it, but I was dangling in mid air as I attached my safety clips on backwards to the tree. The supervisor had to get an extended ladder and rescue me. I was laughing so much that I was bouncing up and down out of control and I thought that the cord was going to snap. I went home and told granny and she laughed for at-least an hour straight. Today, I went go-karting with the PassVac camp. We had an amazing time. All the french boys were really competitive so Arwen and myself were trying to go faster than them, if we could at all. I ended up beating Robin, one guy who kept saying he was going to win the whole tournament. I came proud third and Arwen came a close fourth. I felt like I was going ninety miles an hour. I nearly crashed a few times. Thank God I didn’t. Last night I went to the pizzeria with Granny for a meal in town. I was adventurous with my toppings and got some weird meat on it called andouille. Apparently it’s some sort of pig meat but it smelt like it could have been made of chicken guts. It tasted terrible. I wouldn’t recommend it to you. Tomorrow, I’m going to the brand new water park called Ocean Mania with the group. We are leaving at 7:30 so I’ve to go to bed “de bonne heure” tonight! I can’t wait to see all of you in another 10 days. As much as I don’t want to leave this paradise and all the fun I’m having here, I really cant wait to have a normal, fresh, Irish sausage again. All they have here are the rubbery, chewy hot dogs! They are not to my liking whatsoever. I’ll send another letter in a few days keeping you updated on all the news and any French boys.

Wink Wink!

Au revoir,

Emma
